2008-09 ANNUAL REPORT

The Baptist Collegiate Ministry at LSU
moved back into the renovated BCM Center
in the summer of 2008 and looked forward
to using the center to kick off the fall
semester of 2008. Large numbers of
students attended the various meetings
and ministries throughout the school
year. The following are some of the
highlights of the year.
1. Monday
Lunch – An
average of 150 students each week
attended the Monday Lunch meetings of
the BCM. Monday Lunch is held from 11:40
a.m. to 12:20 p.m.
2. TNT
Worship
was held on Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m.
during the 2008-2009 school year. The
average weekly attendance for TNT was
180.
3. Bible
Study Groups
– Over 200 students each week
participated in BCM or local church
college Bible studies. These studies
were held at a variety of days, times
and locations.
4. Mission
Trips –
The BCM students participated in several
different mission trips which included a
mission trip to New York in December, to
Puerto Rico, New Orleans and Texas in
April and to Hawaii in May. The annual
mission trip to Mexico during Spring
Break had to be cancelled due to the
drug cartel wars. The BCM will resume
this trip in the spring of 2010.
5. Summer
Missions/Church Camp Staffers
– Over sixty BCM
students served as a summer missionary
or a church camp staffer during the
summer of 2009. These students served
across the United States and around the
world.
6. International
Student Ministry
– The BCM continues to
have a strong outreach to International
Students attending LSU. There are over
1,800 International Students attending
LSU from over 120 different countries.
The BCM sponsored a weekly Coffeehouse
for Internationals Students in
2008-2009. During the 2009-2010 school
year the BCM is sponsoring a weekly
dinner for International Students on
Monday nights at 5:30 p.m.
The Fall of 09 semester kicked off in
late August of 2009. The BCM has had a
great start to this school year. Over
600 different students have already
attended one or more of the BCM
ministries. The weekly TNT average
attendance has been over 250. The BCM
anticipates a strong year of ministry.
